Why do I need to use hot water? Does the water need to be boiled?

Why does my ice sphere crack from the bottom?

Give your ice mould set some time to naturally defrost so the moulds can easily slide out. If you're using a lot of strength to pull out the moulds, you will most likely have cracks at the bottom. It should be an easy pull, not a strength pull.

Can I leave my mould set frozen in the freezer for as long as I want?

Yes, however, I suggest leaving the ice spheres encased and untouched in the moulds (not entire mould set) to ensure the rocky edges do not melt and become smooth. I am currently exploring ways to ensure a proper storage option is available for purchase for the future.
